The King and Denmark have a common dark history

When Klaus Dohm (journalist) and Joachim Ladefoged (photographer) from the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten visited Ghana in March, they paid a visit to the Akwamu King.

The Akwamu tribe in Ghana sold slaves to the Danish West Indies, but also ended up in chains themselves. Their king, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, still has the trophy his tribe conquered from the Danes. Today he has a modern agenda.
