General visa requirements for all applicants to the Schengen countries

General Information

On April 5, 2010, regulation no. 810/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a Community Code on Visas (Visa Codex) enters into force.

For Denmark and all other Schengen member states, the Visa Code will hereafter be the regulatory framework for visas.

These regulations imply demands on the application, meaning that all supporting documents must be handed in along with the Schengen application form.

It is essential that you collect all of the following documents before presenting your application to the Visa Facilitation Centre (VFS):

• Application form
• Valid passport
• Photo (white/light coloured background)
• Visa fee
• All supporting documents
• Travel medical insurance
  The insurance shall be valid throughout the territory of the Member States and cover the entire period of the applicant's intended stay or transit within the validity of the visa.
  The minimum coverage shall be EUR 30,000.00

If supporting documents are not presented promptly, your application upon examination may be refused and the visa fee lost.

Please note that the requested supporting documents, as a general rule, are the same at all Schengen Missions (in the local area).

• Applicants must apply in person at the Visa Facilitation Centre (VFS) 
• Visa fees have to be paid upon submitting the application and will not be refunded if visa is not granted or the application withdrawn.
• Time of departure must be within 3 months from submission of the application.
• When submitting the application kindly allow a processing time of a minimum of 15 calendar days.
• To reduce waiting time and to enable seeing all applicants, applicants are requested to keep their documents organised and the visa fee ready upon submitting their application.
• The use of fake, forged or stolen document will be reported to the Ghana Police, CID. The documents in question will not be returned. 
• Upon collection please verify that the information printed on the visa sticker is correct and complete. Please also check if a visa is issued under specific conditions. In the affirmative, these conditions are listed on the visa sticker.

All documents including the application form must be in original with a copy. The submission of any or all of the above mentioned documents do not guarantee the issue of a visa. 

Fees
All fees must be paid together with the application. Fees are not refundable.
