The Danish Ambassador visits ICPS

25.08.2015  14:40

On Tuesday the 19th of August 2015, the Danish Ambassador, Tove Degnbol, visited the Intelligent Card Production Systems (ICPS) factory.  Accompanied by the co-founder of the company Mr. Moses K. Baiden and representatives from the press, the ambassador was shown around the factory’s facilities. After the tour, the Ambassador and Mr. Moses K. Baiden each gave a speech where they both expressed the success of the collaboration between ICPS and the Danish Embassy in Accra. To express how important the Danish involvement in Ghanaian private sector is Mr. Moses K. Baiden stated that “If the Danish Government can recognize the potential of our private sector and be supportive of a majority Ghanaian owned company, like ICPS our own government must do more to strengthen the Ghanaian private sector”.

Back in 2003, a Ghanaian and a Danish company decided to establish a local production of intelligent cards for Ghanaian and West African export Market - ICPS was born. Danida through the Business-to-Business Programme has in various ways supported ICPS since it started. Through different sources of finance, Denmark has supported ICPS with 8.5 million dollars in 2015. This investment is among other things used for financing the production of the up-coming mandatory Ghanaian ID-cards. Thus, the ICPS business project is closely related to the Good Governance Program at the Danish Embassy in Accra.
