Danida-funded research on malaria wins an award

Centre for Medical Parasitology (CMP) has been selected as one of two 2015 recipients of the Global Excellence in Health, which is awarded by the Capital Region of Denmark to "promote and support skilled and internationally outstanding professional environments".

The malaria research at CMP is also being carried out in Ghana. Thus, a Danida-funded Danish/Ghanaian research team headed by Professor Lars Hviid is conducting studies at Hohoe Municipality Hospital. The aim is to develop new vaccines against severe malaria in childhood, based on the principles behind the CMP-developed pregnancy malaria-vaccine currently being tested in Germany and Benin.
